Toy an award winning makeup artist/designer has worked with a roster of Hollywood’s finest directors and has to her credit 35 film and television credits: The Nutty Professor, Empire Falls, Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, Lean on Me, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Boomerang and I Am Legend.
A resident of Harlem, Toy, gave me a very insightful look at the making of the movie ,and the creative process of interpreting Lee Daniel’s dream.
PRECIOUS. Set in Harlem,1980’s. The story of oneyoung women’s life. Not a Black story as some have said. No need to be embarrassed. There are plenty of stories like hers in homes around the globe. The movie is at times disturbing, at others triumphant. Hers is a world of poverty, incest, sexual and mental and physical abuse, rape. Based on the novel PUSH by Sapphire. Produced and directed by Lee Daniels.
