This week on TALK! with AUDREY: DR. MICHAEL LEWIECKI, FACP, FACE, Osteoporosis Director, New Mexico Clinical Research & Osteoporosis Center in Albuquerque. He speaks with Audrey Adams about what every woman over the age of 50 should know about the strength of her bones.
A March 2011 report recently issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that 30 to 50 percent of women will experience an osteoporotic fracture at some point in their lifetime. Osteoporosis is commonly referred to as a “silent disease” that can result in life-altering fractures. The National Osteoporosis Foundation estimates that there will be approximately 14 million cases of osteoporosis among people over age 50 in the U.S. by 2020.
