Bruce Jenner – Olympic Gold Medalist

This week on TALK! with AUDREY: I have a conversation Olympic Gold Medalist and DRIVE4COPD Celebrity Ambassador.

Bruce Jenner earned his place among the world’s greatest athletes after breaking Olympic records and bringing America home the gold medal for decathlon in 1976. In his extensive career, Bruce has served as a commercial spokesperson, acclaimed sports commentator, entrepreneur, author and producer.

Recently, Bruce has opened up about his personal life on a reality television series. Until now, however, Bruce and his wife Kris have not shared their family’s personal battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Kris lost both her grandparents to emphysema, a form of COPD. Bruce remembers the tremendous toll the debilitating disease took on his loved ones and the strain it placed on his tight-knit family. Now, he is dedicated to spreading the word about COPD.

COPD is a serious lung disease that makes it harder and harder to breathe. While it can’t be cured, it can be managed and treated, so it’s important to find out if you have COPD. With the right diagnosis and treatment, you can take steps that could help you manage your COPD and breathe better.

With COPD, your lungs do not work as well as they once did. So you find it more and more difficult to breathe. As the disease progresses, your symptoms tend to get worse and more damage occurs in the lungs. This damage is permanent. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are COPD.

When you talk about chronic bronchitis or emphysema, it’s important to realize that you are really talking about COPD. With COPD, you can have one or both of these conditions. Most patients have both.

Ted Bell – New York Times Best-Selling Author of Warlord

This week on TALK! with AUDREY : Joining me this week is New York Times best-selling author TED BELL to talk about his latest thriller WARLORD, the sixth in the spy adventure series featuring counter terrorist ALEX HAWKE.

In WARLORD, counterterrorist operative Alex Hawke is embroiled in an assassination plot against the Royal Family while hunting down a lost nuke in the mountains of Taliban and al-Qaeda infested Afghanistan.

Hawke has all but given up on life. He lost the woman he loved on his last mission, almost a year ago, and he’s been seeking refuge at the bottle of a rum bottle. But His Royal Highness Prince Charles, an old friend, calls on Hawke for help when Charles receives a threat against the lives of his two sons. The threat is signed with the same signature as a suspicious note found in an old book that once belonged to Charles’s godfather—Lord Mountbatten—the beloved family patriarch who was assassinated 30 years prior.

While investigating the death threat, Hawke is tasked to find a way to lock down Pakistan’s nuclear weapon storage facilities. A new terrorist group, “Sword of Allah” has plans to infiltrate and put sleepers inside the arsenal storage facilities at Islamabad. But when Hawke and his team arrive in Pakistan, they learn a nuke has already been stolen from one of the facilities and is in the hands of the most powerful terrorist warlords in the region.

Hawke and his team must race high into the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan to chase down the loose nuke before it finds its way out of the country and into the heart of America.

Dorothea Benton Frank – New York Times Bestselling Author of Low Country Summer

This week on TALK! with AUDREY :

I have a conversation with New York Timesbestselling author DOROTHEA BENTON FRANK about her newest book LOW COUNTRY SUMMER.

BENTON FRANK returns to South Carolina for her latest novel LOWCOUNTRY SUMMER, the much-anticipated sequel to her second novel Plantation.

LOWCOUNTRY SUMMER is the story of the changing anatomy of a family after the loss of its matriarch, sparkling with the inimitable Dot Frank’s warmth and humor. Benton Frank follows her recent successes with a tale rich in atmosphere and unforgettable scenes of Southern life.

When Caroline Wimbley Levine returned to Tall Pines Plantation, she never expected to make peace with the long-buried truths about herself and her family. The Queen of Tall Pins––her late mother Lavinia––was a force of nature, but now she is gone, leaving Caroline and the rest of the family uncertain of who will take her place. In the lush South Carolina countryside, old hurts, betrayals, and dark secrets surface, and a new generation will rise along the banks of the mighty Edisto River.

Jessica Francis Kane – Author of The Report

This week on TALK! with AUDREY :

My guest is JESSICA FRANCIS KANE author of THE REPORT. Ten Years ago, while living in London, Jessica Francis Kane came across a story when she attended an event at the British Library for a series of books published by the London Stationery Office. The series is comprised of official government reports not previously available in popular form and the one the series editor held up in his hand and spoke passionately about was The Tragedy at Bethnal Green.  The Bethnal Green Tube Disaster was the largest civillian accident of World War II, 173 adults and children died in a crowd seeking shelter from an air raid.  No bombs fell in the area that night , so why had the crowd panicked and why did the government withhold information, citing issues of home security?

FRANCIS KANE‘s novel is a touching exploration of the tragedy and of the way tragedies are reported, remembered and commemorated.
